President Trump has proclaimed April 30 – May 6, 2017 as National Small Business Week. This gives us all the opportunity to celebrate small businesses and the contributions that they make to our communities.
We hope that the small business owners in our community take some time to prepare their business to survive various emergencies like fire, floods, and a variety of weather events.
Every business needs to have a Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Plan. One of the best resources available to any business in preparing for an emergency is their local emergency management agency. Within this agency is a wealth of information. The agency should have a completed risk assessment for your area and the local response and recovery plans.
In addition, there are several good websites available to assist in building a business’ disaster plans. Here is a list of things that you could check out and consider in preparing your plan:
- SBA’s Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Plan
- gov Preparedness Planning for your Business
- Prepare My Business – Disaster Planning Can Reduce Time to Recovery and Expense
We would like to wish all the small businesses in our communities and very Happy Small Business Week.
